Who publishes it
Basement Finishing Rockford is published by N5 Studio, a web studio run by Ryan Nesheim in Rockford, Illinois. N5 Studio built the site, wrote the pages and checked the sources. It is not a basement contractor and does not do construction work.
How quote requests are handled
When you send the quote form, the request comes to the site publisher, who replies with next steps. No contractor is confirmed for your area yet, so nothing is booked or started until you have agreed to a written price.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure on the site has a source, linked where it appears.
- Prices: national and metro cost guides from HomeGuide, Angi (including its Chicago and Columbus, Ohio pages), HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack and This Old House, all published or updated in 2026. Older or undated guides are left out. No guide publishes a Rockford price, so every range is labeled national or by the market it covers.
- Local permits and codes: the City of Rockford, the City of Loves Park, the Village of Machesney Park, the villages of Roscoe, Rockton, Cherry Valley, Winnebago, Durand, Pecatonica and New Milford, the City of South Beloit and the Winnebago County Building Division. Their fee schedules are undated on their own sites, so we state rules and tell you to confirm dollar figures.
- State and model-code rules: the Illinois Municipal League, Capital Development Board, the Home Repair and Remodeling Act, the Smoke Detector Act, the Attorney General, the 2021 International Residential Code and IEMA for radon.
- Town numbers: the U.S. Census Bureau's ACS 2024 5-year estimates (2020-2024) via Census Reporter, covering 14 places and the rural townships.
- Place facts: Wikipedia, linked on each town page.
Where an office publishes nothing, its page says so rather than guessing. Two items carry a verify note on the site because the sources did not fully confirm them: the county's code edition and the EPA radon zone. If something is out of date, the source link on that page is the place to check, and the quote form reaches us.
What this site will not do
It does not show reviews, ratings, staff names or years in business, because it has none of its own to show. It lists no street address. Prices are ranges from published guides, not promises; the price that counts is the one in your written contract.
